ANATOMIAE AMPHITHEATRUM

ANATOMIAE AMPHITHEATRUM

Commissioned by David Elliott for the 17th Sydney Biennale, this series of work is loosely based on Robert Fludd's view of the universe. A 14th century scholar, Paracelsian physician, and cosmologist, Fludd proposed that the universe is divided into 9 spheres. Often named after the 9 muses, these spheres of the universe (the macrocosm) are also believed to be present in the human body (the microcosm).
